Personal vs Company Buy-to-Let
Whether to hold buy-to-let personally or through a company is a significant decision driven mainly by tax and your plans. Neither is automatically better.
The main differences
Personal ownership is simpler and has a wider lender choice; company ownership can change the tax position but adds cost and complexity, and typically uses SPV lending with personal guarantees. Rental stress tests apply either way.
Transferring an existing personal property into a company can trigger tax and costs.
How to decide
The right structure depends on your other income, number of properties and long-term goals. Take qualified tax advice before deciding; we can then arrange the mortgage to fit.

Ask an adviser about your circumstances and a solicitor or tax adviser about legal or tax questions. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage. Most buy-to-let mortgages are not regulated by the FCA.
