Mortgaging an Inherited Property to Let
Inheriting a property you want to let raises specific mortgage questions, especially if there is an existing mortgage or you want to release funds. Options depend on your circumstances.
Common routes
If the property is mortgage-free, you might take a buy-to-let mortgage to release funds or simply let it. If a mortgage remains, it usually needs settling or replacing. Lenders assess the rental cover and your position.
Probate must usually be complete before you can mortgage the property.
Tax and advice
Inheritance and letting can have tax consequences, so take tax advice. We can then arrange a suitable buy-to-let mortgage.

General mortgage information, not a personal recommendation. Lender criteria and scheme rules can change. Ask an adviser about your circumstances and a solicitor or tax adviser about legal or tax questions. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage. Most buy-to-let mortgages are not regulated by the FCA.
