SA302s and Tax Year Overviews Explained
Lenders often ask self-employed applicants for SA302 tax calculations and tax-year overviews. Knowing what they are and how to get them speeds up your application.
What they show
An SA302 (tax calculation) summarises your income and tax for a year based on your Self Assessment; a tax-year overview confirms the tax due and paid to HMRC. Together they evidence your declared income.
Lenders usually want two or three years, matching your accounts.
How to obtain them
You or your accountant can obtain them through your HMRC online account or Self Assessment software. Request them early so they are ready when the lender asks.
