Remortgage Costs Checklist

A remortgage can involve several costs beyond the new rate. Listing them helps you compare deals properly rather than on the headline rate alone.

Costs to check

  • Product or arrangement fee (which you may add to the loan).
  • Valuation fee, if not free with the deal.
  • Legal or conveyancing costs, if not covered.
  • Any early repayment charge to leave your current deal.
  • Any exit or deeds-release fee from your current lender.

Compare the total

Add the costs to the payments over the deal period, then subtract any conditional cashback, and compare each option on the same basis. Our advice is free — the costs above are lender and third-party costs.
